The cost and your budget is usually the most important consideration also more essential issues to look at is the size of your room, the ratio between the video screen and you is very important,  the superiority of the Plasma, LCD,  LED TV or Projector and most outstandingly the quality of the Surround Sound system. Its only when the AV components of a home theater system have been carefully selected, consumers can have an experience similar to being at a Cinema. However, when selecting the various AV components of a home theater system, it is very important to remember that bigger is not always prettier and the most expensive source is not always the greatest. It’s all about how you select, set-up and calibrate your Home Theatre system.

THE VISION

home theater systemsMake a decision on your TV envisioned by its required room size. A TV with a big screen size will assist you create the feeling of being at a Cinema. Consider viewing size between 42 inches and 60inches for a TV and 100 to 120 inches for a projector screen.

Consider the size of your room first before you decide the size of your TV to purchase, measure the distance between your sitting area and where your TV will be positioned. Divide this number by 3 to arrive at a minimum TV size and multiply it by 1.5 to get the maximum TV size. For example, a viewing distance of 100 inches will require a TV between 32 inches and 42 inches.

Select a TV based on specifications. Flat TV’s requires less distance and can be mounted on a wall. On the other hand, if space is not an issue, then placing it on a TV cabinet will add to your furniture deco. Keep in mind of picture quality that you are looking for. Although Plasma TV’s are more reasonable, LED TV’s display pictures at higher and brighter resolutions.

THE MEDIA PLAYER

Pick a high definition media player based on studio support by Paramount, Warner, Disney, Fox, Lions Gate and Sony Pictures who support both Blu-Rays.  Select media products based sony-dvd-playeron your game requirement. Current gaming systems can be used as media players in a home theater system. Sony PlayStation 3 can be used as Blu-ray players.

There are other options. TiVo is a flexible media player that allows users record live shows and download videos off the Internet. Your laptop, or iPod dock, can also be used as a media player. Decide on a media player based on durability.  Play around with an up converting DVD player The DVD will analyse the video signals and then fill in the gaps to achieve a higher resolution.

THE AUDIO VISUAL RECEIVER

Consider price when selecting an AV receiver. High-end receivers will have all the features but they cost extra. The lesser amount of AV receivers will perform the essential functions of surround but will not have as much drive power. Mid-range receivers have more features than entry-level receivers but they are more popular and affordable than the really high-end receivers.

Utilise the size of your room to determine the amount of amplifier power your AV receiver should have. If your room is very spacious, then your AV receiver will require a high-end receiver to fill itsurround-sound-receivers acoustic requirements. Small rooms will require entry range receivers.
Decide on AV receivers based on the sensitivity of your speakers. The sensitivity of a speaker determines its ability to produce a certain volume. Speakers with low sensitivity require AV receivers with a lot of power, while speakers with high sensitivity require less power. Select an AV receiver with a total harmonic distortion (THD) level below 0.1 precent. This will make the audio signals sound very smooth.

THE MULTI-SPEAKER SYSTEM

Take note of how much power your speakers can deal with. Its power is measured in RMS and Peak Watts. RMS wattage measures how much power a speaker can take continuously while Peak wattage measures the maximum power a speaker can handle for brief bursts of sound.
Verify the multi-speakers frequency response. Frequency response is a speaker’s ability to reproduce the frequencies in a range at any given volume level. Frequency is measured in Hertz home theater speakers(Hz).

Verify the value of speaker impedance before connecting. Speakers with a upper rate of impedance, such as 8 ohm, require less power from the AV receiver. Speakers with lower impedance will require more work from the AV receiver. Impedance is measured in Ohms.

Verify the multi-speaker’s voltage sensitivity before connecting. Voltage sensitivity measures how loud a speaker will be at a given voltage. This is measured in decibels (dB) per 2.83 volt.
